What is the DISC Assessment?
The DISC assessment is based on the work of William Moulton Marston, a psychologist who created the DISC theory. The DISC model centers on four DISC factors known as Dominance (D), Influence (I), Steadiness (S), and Conscientiousness (C).
The D Style
The D Style profile, also known as Dominance or D type, is one of the four basic DISC types that originated from the William Marston’s DISC Model.
D Styles make up approximately 9% of the worldwide population.
D personality styles are competitive, aggressive, decisive and results-oriented. They prefer to move fast, take risks and get things done now. D styles also like to be in charge, control and have the power. They like change and challenges.
D styles can also be impatient, overbearing and even rude. They are often not very good listeners and are prone to make snap decisions. Others may perceive D styles as somewhat self-centred, demanding, blunt, and overly aggressive.
D Styles tend to dominate the conversation, so communication is often one-directional. D Styles come across as blunt, as they communicate efficiently as possible.
When communicating with D Style individuals, talk about the bottom line, be brief, refrain from repeating yourself and focus on solutions rather than problems.

- Meeting with a D Style: Meetings should be very brief, to the point, and only scheduled when necessary
- Emailing a D Style: Emails should be brief, business-like, and concise
- Providing a D Style with Feedback: Feedback should be direct, actionable, and focused on the most important points
